Happy navy toe-tees

Navy toes on bed

Well, hasn’t this been an interesting week? Let me see what has gone on… Oh, I’ve gone back to work after ten months maternity leave and we celebrated by receiving a special visitor. The chicken pox fairy came! Yes, our gorgeous little nine month old girl has been struck down. What you say, she’s very young to get it? Well baby bear, welcome to a family of over-achievers. So, instead of the uber organised week we planned this one has been unexpectedly extra tough with sleep deprivation and feelings of cabin fever running high.

Enough about the fun stuff though and let’s move to the crux of this post…it’s the little things that will give you a lift when all around you seems a bit, well, haggard and blue. The last few days have been less than glamourous. We’re talking A LOT of pyjama time here and not the good type. #Netflixandchill it ain’t.

Happy Navy Toes and Essie's 'Bobbing for Baubles'

But navy toes have come to the rescue. Silly? Yeah. Have they worked? Yeah. You see, the other day my moment of brightness, as I struggled into the shower at 3pm, came from realising that I wasn’t completely broken in the style stakes. There was still a little bit of me holding it together. As I threw down my baby stained clothes and released my frizzy hair from a horrendous ‘do, I looked down at my toes to realise that they were done! My hair was messy, my eyes were red, my skin felt dehydrated, my brain was zapped, but my toes, oh those toes, were a lovely rich beautiful classy shade of pulled together navy.

Essie, I thank you. I thank you for making ‘Bobbing for Baubles’, a shade so rich and dreamy that it may have just saved this mama’s sanity.

As I sit here in a Batman dressing gown (disclaimer: it’s not mine) and jammies with an Ergo contained sick, spotty sleeping baby attached to me but with very glamourous toes, I urge you to go find the bright spots in your day however ridiculous or seemingly superficial they may be. Cling to them and celebrate them, as it’s those silly little things that may just get you through.
