Hi, I’m Jennifer (Jen or ‘Jenny Wren’ as I was sometimes known as a child). Welcome to ‘The Wren’ – my little corner of the internet where I write about motherhood, wellness, life and style, or whatever else might take my fancy.
I’ve always been a believer that it’s the sum parts of the simple things that make for contented life. That said, it took me a while to get to a feeling of content in my life. I think I probably chased happiness over contentedness for too long.
Since entering the world of motherhood a couple of years ago, I have craved simplicity in my life more than ever, especially when I returned to work nine months after the birth of my daughter. Simplicity allows me to keep my head right along with that feeling of contentedness that I’ve finally found. Life is busy, so why add in unnecessary complications? It’s a work in progress though, and a skill that I believe we have to constantly work on. Content or happy doesn’t just happen.
I consider myself to be an ‘aspiring minimalist’. Lots of progress made, lots more to do! I still have too much stuff and have to curb my enthusiasm for me. But I guess minimalism isn’t only related to possessions but how we approach life.
Here you will likely (it’s the plan anyway) read about the topics that inspire me, make me stop and think and most importantly the strategies that help me keep my head right to deal with all that modern family and work life throws my way.
Hopefully you can relate to some of what I write about and even share some of your thoughts with me too.
